Major

Majors is the most highly publicized division of Little League baseball.  This division is for players age 10 – 12.  A 10 year old will only be permitted to play up to Majors if their skills are extensive enough that they could be a safety hazard in Minors and/or if their evaluation scores are high enough to qualify them for the Majors division.  This is the division that most people watch every summer on TV in the Little League World Series.

Season:

The Major season will begin around the second week of April. Practices will begin approximately two to three weeks before their first game, weather permitting. The players then play an average of two games per week (working around Memorial Day) for a total of 12-14 games.  Southeast Polk Little League does have inter-league play to both support other leagues in the area and provide players the opportunity experience both home and away travel ball. At the conclusion of the regular season, all teams will participate in the inter-league Travis Hough Memorial Tournament to crown a division champion.

All-Stars:

All players in the Major division who play for Southeast Polk Little League and live or go to school within the boundaries will be eligible for all-stars.  At the end of the season the coaches will nominate kids from their team that they feel are ready for All-star play.  If picked for All-stars the player will be expected to be available for practices and games from late June through mid to late July for 11s and end of August for 12s (depending on how far they get in the tournament).

A jersey and hat will be provided.  Players should check with their coach for the color of baseball pants they will need.  Players will need cleats.  (Plastic spikes only)
