Tee-Ball

Tee-Ball is an instructional level of baseball.  It is for players age 4 – 6 years old.  Most players play Tee-Ball for 1-2 years before moving up.  The coach throws four pitches to the player and then if the player does not hit one of those pitches the ball is hit off of a tee using a tee ball bat.  The ball, is similar in size to a regulation baseball but is just a touch softer than a regulation baseball.

Season:

The Tee-ball season will be begin around the third week of April  (Practices will begin approximately two – three weeks before their first game, weather permitting)  The players then play an average of two games per week (working around Memorial Day) for a total of 10-12 games.  At the end of their season the Tee-Ball players will participate in a Tee-Ball tournament which is a single elimination tournament that lasts for approximately a week.  The Tee-Ball Tournament Finals will be held on approximately the last Saturday in June.

Uniform:

A tee shirt and hat will be provided.  Players should check with their coach for the color of baseball pants they will need.  Players can wear regular tennis shoes or cleats.  (Plastic spikes only)

Bats

  • Players at the Tee Ball level are encouraged to provide their own bats
  • Pleasant Hill Little League will provide the coaches with 1-2 bats for players to use but especially by their 2nd year in Tee Ball it is usually more helpful for the player to work on their swing using a consistent bat
  • ALL LITTLE LEAGUE BATS MUST MEET LITTLE LEAGUE’S “USA BASEBALL BAT STANDARDS”
    • Official Little League Bat Standards can be found on the Little League Website under Bat Rules.
    • For a list of approved bats through the USABat Standard please visit usabat.com
    • Please note, the below information was copied from the Little League website and was accurate as of the date of publishing.  If there is a discrepancy between what is on this site and what is on the Little League website, the Little League website will always be considered to be correct.
    • USABat standard Certified Tee-ball Bats (26″ and shorter) will feature the USA Baseball mark and text which reads only for use with approved Tee-balls.
    • If not purchasing a Tee-ball Bat:
      • Bats shall not be more than 33 inches in length, nor more than 2 5/8 inches in diameter at its smallest part
        • If wood, not less than 15/16 inches in diameter (7/8 inch for bats less than 30″) at its smallest part
        • Wood bats taped or fitted with a sleeve may not exceed 18 inches from the small end.
      • Bats must have the “USA Bats” logo to be approved for Little League Play
      • Exceptions to the USA Bats logo requirement for the Tee-ball division are as follows:
        • Note 1: Solid one-piece wood barrel bats do not require a USA Baseball logo in the Tee-ball Division
    • No bats baring the “USSSA” decal are allowed for Little League Play.
    • If you are purchasing a new bat for your player, we recommend you get a USA bat per the standards above so your player can use it for several years if they want. (Tee-ball bats are allowed in the Jr Minors division but they are NOT allowed in the Minors division – ages 8 – 10)
    • Southeast Polk Little League Ground rules also allow the use of other bats in the Tee-ball Division.
      • Players may also use Tee-ball bats / other bats that were purchased or manufactured prior to 2018 when the new standard went into place.  (Exception: No bat with a USSSA stamp is allowed in any division of Little League)

Batting Helmets

  • Because of safety regulations, Southeast Polk Little League and affiliated leagues are required to provide batting helmets
  • If your player would like to bring their own for hygiene, better fit or other reasons they are encouraged to do so
